Restaurant: Bistrot Margot
This is a great spot for a night on the town with friends. Good to know - they have valet for $12 so you don't need to hunt for parking. I liked that. As for the room - imagine a traditional French bistro... excellent wine selection...standard French fare and atmosphere. A bit cramped... but in an intimate sort of way... not in a negative way. In other words, you feel like you're "part of something" when you enter the room. Earlier in the afternoon, our dinner party grew from 4 to 6 with very late notice and they graciously accommodated us. Then we grew from 6 to 8! Got there about 5 minutes early with a game plan to hang at the bar until our table was ready... to my surprise, they had us ready to be seated already. I was hugely impressed by the service. Now... what you really want to know - How Was The Food, Man? The food was good, I'm not going to pull your leg. Everything I tasted was *good* and I don't think you'll be disappointed. The ladies raved about their seafood dishes (tilapia/salmon). I had a filet... it was a filet. How can you not enjoy a filet? But, the name of the game at Bistrot Margot seems to be service & atmosphere. We ate... headed over to their bar area for a few more libations after dinner... and finished up around 11:15. Things were just heating up in Old Town though. Lines out the door and down the block at 3 or 4 different bars/clubs. So, in a nutshell, I think dinner & drinks at Bistrot Margot followed by some bar-hopping in Old Town equals a fantastic night on the town with good friends.

I knew immediately upon entering the front door that we were in for an amazing experience and MK did not disappoint. First off, the room itself is incredible. We sat in the bar area - couldn't have been more perfect. MK got us started with a few adult beverages - my favorite being the "MK 10 Year Anniversary". I followed that up with a bowl of their Carrot Soup which was beyond outstanding.. up to and including the presentation. My only problem with this restaurant was that I couldn't decide which entree to order... they all sounded so good. So, I decided to leave it up to our server who seemed eager to take me up on the challenge. And again, I was blown away. I enjoyed the veal chop - all of it - down to the last bite... mixing in the occassional brussel sprout (as decadent as you can possibly make a green vegetable!). By this point, I admit it... I was FULL. But, how could I not partake in dessert? I can't remember the exact name of the dessert I chose, but I can tell you it had the word CHOCOLATE front and center and that's all I needed to see. Amazing. I even let my wife try a bite - which she'll be forever indebted to me for. Perhaps, my favorite part of the experience was the service. Our server and wait staff was perfect. Attentive. Fun. Knowledgable. All in all, this is my favorite meal in the past 1.5 years.
