OverviewI was lucky enough to be taken to Avec for my birthday and sit at the Chef's Table- it was incredible!
We are big eaters, and we couldn't decide where to begin on the menu, so we basically ordered most of the small plates. Our sweet-natured server, Erica, was kind enough to suggest we may be ordering too much (she was right), but we laughed her off and went to town....
Chorizo-stuffed Medjool dates with smoked bacon and pequillo pepper and tomato sauce (these dates are HUGE, and delicious. I almost swooned off my stool)
Whipped Brandade with garlic bread (heavy, but decadent and delish. This was the beginning of my end, unfortunately!)
Wood-fired squid with tomatoes guanciale, fideo, and fennel aioli (arguably my favorite of the night. Not at all what I was expecting, but rich and tasty!)
Marinated Hanger Steak with lemon mascarpone leeks, escarole, and charred onion vinaigrette
Burrata with marinated chickpeas, golden raisins, pistachio and lemon vinaigrette (it's burrata, which means it's amazing)
Marinated anchovies on flatbread with cucumber, cilantro, and mustard oil
....phew!
So after all of this and lots of wine, I was ready to throw in the towel, but still waxing poetic on how delicious everything was!
I can't wait to get back to Avec, it's truly incredible!
