I was lucky enough to be taken to Avec for my birthday and sit at the Chef's Table- it was incredible! We are big eaters, and we couldn't decide where to begin on the menu, so we basically ordered most of the small plates. Our sweet-natured server, Erica, was kind enough to suggest we may be ordering too much (she was right), but we laughed her off and went to town.... Chorizo-stuffed Medjool dates with smoked bacon and pequillo pepper and tomato sauce (these dates are HUGE, and delicious. I almost swooned off my stool) Whipped Brandade with garlic bread (heavy, but decadent and delish. This was the beginning of my end, unfortunately!) Wood-fired squid with tomatoes guanciale, fideo, and fennel aioli (arguably my favorite of the night. Not at all what I was expecting, but rich and tasty!) Marinated Hanger Steak with lemon mascarpone leeks, escarole, and charred onion vinaigrette Burrata with marinated chickpeas, golden raisins, pistachio and lemon vinaigrette (it's burrata, which means it's amazing) Marinated anchovies on flatbread with cucumber, cilantro, and mustard oil ....phew! So after all of this and lots of wine, I was ready to throw in the towel, but still waxing poetic on how delicious everything was! I can't wait to get back to Avec, it's truly incredible!

Went back to Avec again on Saturday night and had a wonderful time. The staff is consistently pleasant and enjoyable. I just had to add another review because of a new item I found on the menu, amazing..... olive-oil poached rock shrimp farrotto with ramps, fennel and parmesan Do it.

I visited Avec on a Sunday evening and found a lively, fun atmosphere. The menu, while not monstrous, was filled with too many things I wanted to try! Everything was delicious there - and I also recommend something nice from their really well priced wine list! The atmosphere is great - really lively - and also interesting...if you are sitting at the end of a communal bench table, you may be asked to move to seat others (I found it charming!). Defintely a great spot - but if you are in a hurry to dine, don't visit here as there are no reservations and you may have to wait. Oh - and visit with a group so that it's easier to try more food!

Since the menus are seasonal I don’t usually get one particular dish but I do really like the chorizo stuffed dates at Avec

When someone talks about what they would eat as their final meal on earth, they typically include dishes from several different sources/times. I would have to put the bacon wrapped dates on my final meal menu. Spicy and satisfying, they remain on a menu that changes seasonally. The focaccia and pork shoulder are also must gets. There is always a good salad or two but make sure you ask your server to guide you to the best one (they are honest). The wine list is also unorthodox so ask for guidance there as well. And lastly, they play some great jams if you can sit close enough to the 'kitchen' area.
