Description

Greek Islands website states:A group of friends realized the American dream that many immigrants had — they opened their own business after many years of hard work. From humble beginnings they grew their business into the most popular Greek restaurant in the United States.
Since 1971, the same owners continue with the founding principles of great food, great service, and value. From Greece they select and ship to their restaurants the highest quality extra virgin olive oil, superior wines the best cheeses, herbs, and seafood.
With two great locations to serve you, Greektown in downtown Chicago and Lombard in the western Chicago suburbs, you can count on a festive, incredible Greek culinary experience.

Overview
Ignore the cheesy decor, go for the food. Taramosalata, Melitzanosalata,Tirokafteri (trio) of dips is spectacular. Fried zucchini has a great garlic punch (bring mints), gyro platter is solid. Village salad is delicious time after time. If nothing else you must go for the grilled octopus, I dream of this dish. Tender, flavorful with a perfect char, don’t know if I have ever had better.

Overview
I've been a fan and customer since I was 8 years old and have visited this grand scale home of Chicago's finest greek fare more than any other restaurant anywhere. Why do I love the Greek Islands, let me count the ways? First, the food, Tzaganaki, grilled octopus, dandelion greens, giant lima beans, fresh beets and skordalia, Tzatziki, ripe tomatoes in the village salad, lamb chops, chicken oreganato, lamb with artichokes, spanakopita and whole red snapper. Second the people, from the valet guys to the busser, service is prompt, friendly and professional. The place is always spotless and despite the continuous loop of traditional greek music and lousy wine list, I love the party atmosphere and am thinking of my next visit as I write this.
