Description

Joining it's Michelin Bib-Gourmand winning sister restaurant Gemini Bistro in Lincoln Park, Rustic House features classic American cuisine utilizing fresh, farm-to-table ingredients. Chef Jason Paskewitz and restaurateur Ryan O'Donnell provide urbanites with fresh Midwestern dishes - many coming off an imported Rotisol French rotisserie - in a warm, intimate environment. Seasonal ingredients are served along with Gepperth's Meat Market meats and other carefully selected components to create exciting, updated dishes. The warm décor features natural raw materials including weathered barnyard walls, burlap wall treatments, Travertine tiled floors and artwork by local artists. Seating is available for 50 people in the welcoming front dining room, eight at the intimate bar and 28 in the cozy back dining room which features a fireplace framed by a reclaimed oak mantle. A private dining space in the lower level wine cellar accommodates up to 20 people. "Three Stars." Phil Vettel, Chicago Tribune "Plenty to like at Rustic House." Overview
Walking through the welcoming front door is truly like walking into a friend's house with such a cozy vibe. The bar is just big enough and they have a nice selection of cocktails and wines. Although, not so impressed by their Reds by the glass. The menu was great, offering very small snacks to salads to apps to larger plates and sides. Love the idea of the daily rotisserie specials (by the way, the place does not leave you smelling of a wood burning oven). We had the suckling pig, which is a stack of meat to feed two...halibut...potatoes gratin...brussel sprouts...all washed down with a bottle of Red recommended by our waitress, who was fantastic and cute as a button. Loved it all. I almost feel like sharing this could make it difficult to get a reservation...but, how can I not share the love. Truly a neighborhood gem.
