Description
Piccolo Sogno website states:Piccolo Sogno opened its doors to Chicago in July 2008. Named "little dream," as it translates in Italian, it is the famed chef Tony Priolo and Italian wine expert Ciro Longobardo's dream Italian restaurant, also their first. Piccolo Sogno features a menu of fresh, seasonal rustic Italian cuisine with an impressive all-Italian wine program. "The restaurant fits our personal goal to get to the heart of Italian wine and food," says Priolo, owner and Executive Chef. "You go to Italy for simple food, prepared by hand with local ingredients and served with local wines. That's why people love eating in Italy, and we want to bring that experience to Chicago."
Priolo's menu fits those intentions, offering regional Italian dishes including hand-tossed pizzas prepared in the restaurant's wood-burning oven, house-made pastas, Roman-style pork and Mediterranean sea bass, as well as homemade gelato and sorbet.
The wine list is as approachable, as Ciro Longobardo includes detailed descriptions for each of the 400+ by-the-glass and bottle selections, organized by region. "Italians often drink simple local wines with their meal, but Italian wines can be confusing for many people," says Longobardo. "We want to make it easy for people to look at the list and find a wine that pairs well with their food and fits the mood perfectly."
