A longtime Chicago resident, I've watched the Chicago restaurant grow and expand into a world renowned culinary scene. I actively explore this scene and am passionate about discovering true standouts in this city. While I tend to gravitate towards a few restaurants on a regular basis, I am always excited about trying the newcomers.
Restaurant: Sushi X
This is our go to place for sushi delivery on the near north side. I have never set foot in the actual restaurant, but have been hard pressed to find sushi delivery that I like more!

Restaurant: Sumi Robata Bar
I have been to Sumi probably 8 times this year. I am rarely a repeat diner to this degree. It is a testament to not only the food and variety of the menu, but to the the owner and his wife, that make us feel at home every time we dine.
I love that I can get amazing sushi and then dive over into the robata grilled items. The hamachi is something I crave. Mix and match on the robata grill menu, but make sure you try the skirt steak and the lamb chop!
The nice thing about Sumi, is that you can go back many times and have something different on each visit.
A gem in River North.

Restaurant: Embeya
So I will admit, I happened on Embeya accidentally. 4 of us were facing a 2 hour wait at Avec, and it happened to be nearby and have a bar. I couldn't be more thrilled that this happened.
After a couple sips of our drinks we asked to look at a menu and were instantly intrigued. Then food started coming out around us and we were hooked by the smells. We quickly canceled our plans and asked for a table.
The food was amazing! I am a huge fan of bold flavors and Embeya delivers just that. We started out with a few small plates. The highlights were the papaya salad and the spring rolls. I have never had anything like the papaya salad, a must try. The garlic chicken was amazing for such a simple sounding dish, bold garlic flavors, a big hit at the table. The second entree we loved was the Rabbit Leg. We had several other items that were delicious. I could really gush about this meal for a while.
Save room for dessert, we had several, but our favorite was the Cream Puff Top. I'm not sure exactly what made this up, but it was fantastic.
I can't wait to make this a more regular place in our restaurant rotation. I am just embarrassed that I missed out for this long!

Restaurant: Siena Tavern
I become skeptical when someone adds to the already overly populated river north area with a celeb chef attached, but I was really happy with Siena! Great space, very comfortable. I had to make these reservations 3 months ago, and it was definitely packed, especially the bar. Our server was awesome, very professional, yet fun and engaging.
The food was great! Started with a pepperoni pizza that was awesome, then the proscuitto pear pizza, short rib ravioli and squid ink linguini with lobster. The linguini was by far my favorite. Leave room for dessert, they were amazing too!
Can't wait to go back, hopefully it won't take 3 months this time!

Restaurant: CLOSED - Pastis
When I'm in town, this is one of my favorite boozy lunch spots. The croque madame is not to be missed....
