I love food and wine.
Restaurant: North Pond
North Pond has been my top 3 favorite restaurant in Chicago, not only for spectacular dinners but also for a truly amazing brunch.
Last Sunday we went for brunch with another couple. It was a gorgeous day out. We sat in the front room that offers amazing views of the pond, park and downtown skyline.
Our server, Shannon, is probably one of the best we ever had...we always request him when dining at North Pond. He is knowledgeable, personable and shares our passion for food and wine. Truly an all around great guy.
We started off with hand crafted cocktails...a take on summer sangria - made with fresh strawberries that have been soaked in late harvest riesling...so good!
The restaurant offers a 3 course brunch for $33...with 4 choices in each category...you can't go wrong...
I had the Crab/Avocado to start (peekytoe crab with avocado mousse, mint, radish, carrot broth) very refreshing...great starter
Also had the Cucumber/Salmon (chilled cucumber melon soup with cured salmon, pumpernickel and serrano for the touch of heat) great take on a gazpacho
My main dish was Shrimp/Asparagus (shrimp a la plancha, asparagus, beets, gnocchi, hazelnuts) also a perfect summer dish.
For dessert we ordered one of each...my favorite was the Rhubarb/Orange (citrus rhubarb tart with oatmeal crumble and orange blossom ice cream! How cool is that...
All the entrees were seasonal; just perfect! Bruce Sherman is a very talented chef and I've never had a bad dish there. I'm always surprised with the creativeness that goes into every plate that he puts out.
We enjoyed ourseleves and will definitely be back to try the summer menu.
Thanks again North Pond!

Restaurant: Ada Street
Went to Ada St. on a Wed night...place was busy.
Love the comfy, cozy decor...very nice layout of the place.
The menu is small but offers variety of choices for everyone...the octopus was super tender...my favorite item on the menu. Also tried the gnocchi...buttery and delicious.
The bar is beautiful and offers a nice cocktail selection crafted by a great mixologist. I ordered the Rhum Clemente based martini and I loved it.
Nice selection of craft beers and glass pours.
Our server, Anna, was helpful and friendly. The managers were welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Went on a Tuesday night for a 5:30 dinner with my boyfriend...place was already busy having 368 on the books (I peeked at opentable) for a Tueday night!
The decor is beautiful...very chic and sexy.
The employees (servers, hosts etc.) look like Ford models.
We were sat in a large, comfy booth.
Our server, Chris A. was so adorable! He addressed us with a smile and explained the menu and drink program very well. He definitely made us feel welcome.
I started off with a cocktail...Gin, St. Germain and Amaro served up...very good...followed up with a glass of a Super Tuscan...
We had the Beef Carpacio, Grilled Octopus (super tender) and Mushroom Pizzette (our fav)
We ordered 2 pastas: King Crab spicy spaghetti...just the right amount of spice, and Duck Agnolotti...creamy and delicious.
For dessert we ordered the Tartufo...imagine a huge Ferrero Rocher stuffed with Hazelnut and Chocolate Gelato...crazy good; as well as the Baked Cannoli...also very good.
This place is great for a date night or a business dinner, as they have a 2 party rooms.
Great food...awesome staff...We will definitely be back.
Thanks Chris A. for a memorable dining experience
