About

I love to travel to seek out the best and most delicious dishes in the world. From Florida to California, to Seoul to Shanghai, I love finding the hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems of a place's food culture and scene. My boyfriend, Ramon, is my partner in foodie crime.

What Do They Put in That Baba Ganoush?!

Restaurant: Taste of Lebanon
My bf and I have been going to Taste of Lebanon for years and we simply love it for fast, cheap eats. It's small, sparce, and family-owned. We recommend the Vegetarian Sampler with Hummus, pita, falafel, pickled veggies, and, the total star of the show, the BABA GANOUSH! It's so creamy, smokey and rich, it's simply beautiful. One time we asked the owner's son what the secret ingredient was. He laughed and told us he couldn't tell. Well, whatever they are doing, they are doing it right. We love Taste of Lebanon! Also, get the chicken shwarma sandwich. Fantastic!

Best Pho on Argyle--Seriously

Restaurant: Pho 777
I live in the neighborhood, so people always ask me what my favorite Vietnamese restaurant is in the area. While Tank Noddle is good, as well as Pho 888, Pho 777 is hands-down my favorite. Skip the lines at the corner at Tank and head a little further down Arglye (sometimes scary, I know, but I promise, you'll be fine) and go to Pho 777 at the corner of Argyle and Winthrop. The place is clean and nice, the servers friendly, and the food is fantastic. Get the beef salad (marinated thinly-sliced beef with diakon, papaya, carrots, peanuts and herbs, served with shrimp crakers) #16 pho (Eye of round) and summer rolls. The pho broth is deep and rich, with just the right amount of collagen and spices to make it super complex.

Get the Veggie Avocado Bahn Mi

Restaurant: Ba Le Bakery
While the entire menu at Ba Le is great, my favorite is the Veggie Avocado sandwich with fried tofu, jimica, avocado, pickled veggies, all on their homemade crusty-yet-soft bread. Insider tip: These sandwiches hold up really well in the fridge. They open really early, like 7am, so grab a couple to go for lunch. Sure beats your typical Lean Cuisine, right?

Secret BBQ Duck Buns

Restaurant: Sun Wah Bar-B-Q Restaurant
We all know that Sun Wah offers their fantastic duck buns as part of the "Duck Feast," but did you know that all summer long, they are serving up these delicious treats at the Thursday night Argyle Night Market? Oh, and did I mention they are a dollar each? They set up shop at the corner of Arglye and Kenmore, BBQ-ing the ducks and slicing them up in front of your eyes. They even sell the carcas for $4 for soups, if you are so inclined. They take the duck and put it inside a perfectly fluffy bun and top with pickled vegetables and hoisin sauce. I also add a hearty dose of sriracha, but that's totally up to you. The night markets on Arglye go through September, so if you want the Sun Wah duck buns without the duck feast, head on over to Arglye and get in line--and the lines are long, so make sure you don't come TOO hungry.

Get the hushpuppies, Trust me

Restaurant: Parson's Chicken & Fish
We arrived at Parson's on a Sunday at 11am, trying to avoid the crowds...and it worked! We were seated at one of the picnic tables outside on the sprawling patio. We ordered a Negroni Slushie (from what I have heard, this is the drink of the summer) and looked over the menu. We decided on fried chicken and a fish sandwich, and started with the hushpuppies wih goat cheese and fresh corn and peppers, really great. The chicken was good too, very juicy and I LOVED the homemade hot sauce on the tables. The fish sandwich was good, but very messy. All in all, we would go back, ASAP.
